Sun Lu



Dr. Lu Sun is a Professor and Chairman of Department of Civil Engineering, and Director of International Institute of Transportation and Infrastructure at the Catholic University of America, Washington DC, USA. Dr. Lu Sun's research interests include: vehicle-structure interaction; wave propagation in solids; structural health monitoring and nondestructive testing and evaluation; civil infrastructure information and asset management systems; high-speed railway design and monitoring; highway and airport design and monitoring, pavement materials design and performance modeling; intelligent transportation systems; optimal routing; traffic flow theory, simulation, and forecasting; transportation safety. Dr. Sun's research has attracted research grants from government agencies and private sectors. He has published four monographs and over 150 journal papers. Dr. Sun served as a proposal panelist on a number of government agencies and as a referee for more than 40 international journals. Dr. Sun received the Changjiang Scholar Professorship from China Ministry of Education and the CAREER Award from the U.S. National Science Foundation in 2006.
